Calhoun High/Middle school is
located on State Rt. 16 7.5 miles south of Grantsville on Mt Zion
ridge, and 3.5 miles north of the intersection of Rt 16 with U.S. Rt
33/119 at Millstone.
From I-79 (South of Braxton County), I-79 North to Big Otter Exit
(Exit 40) then North on State
Rt. 16 about 33 miles to beautiful Mount Zion Ridge. The school is
visible on the left.
From I-79 (North of Braxton County) I-79 South to Burnsville Exit
(Exit 79) then west on
State Rt. 5 to Grantsville (35 miles). Then 7.5 south on State Rt. 16.
Calhoun County High School has made a name for itself as one of the top
wrestling programs in West Virginia and in past years has been a
regular fixture in the top ten at the State Tournament.
LKC Championships: 10 (2002-2005, 2007-2010, 2014, 2015, 2016)
Regional Championships: 10 (1997, 2000-2005, 2009, 2014, 2015, 2016 tie)
State Runner-ups: 5 (1982, 2002, 2006, 2010, 2015)
In 2015-16, Brian Ritchie assumed head coaching duties at Calhoun, after the retirement of
Mike Stump (WV-HOF '15), who held that position from 1987 - 2015. Andrew Cummings has assumed Head Coach position with the 2019-20 season.
Calhoun County hosts the Calhoun Invitational annually in January.
