My good (and covert) friend "TrueSouthFanFromPartsUnknown" sent me the top secret document a few days ago that reveals the master scheme to transform West Virginia sports into four categories: Large Urban, Small Urban, Large Rural, Small Rural. The group behind this plot is some outfit called the "Competitive Balancing Committee" or some BS like that. I recall James Bond saved the world many times from the diabolical organization known as SPECTRE. Well, we shall refer to this gang as "SPECTACLE" because they are making a spectacle of an attempt to fix something.
Ole James Bear, 007, "Licensed to Talk about the subjects people keep covered up" gave all of this a quick glance.
I bounced the current rankings we are building (thank you for your input) against the top secret document.
Observations:
1. AAA is still AAA. All you schools that lack "speed" will still struggle to compete in football or basketball.
2. The top wrestling teams in AA/A are now scattered across three different divisions. There will be less competition, more champions and possibly a state finals match that pits two wrestlers that would not have qualified under the current system.
3. As a person who grew up on the West Side of Charleston, I never considered Sissonville as "urban". Charleston has itself become more "rural" in the past 20 years.
