WV Single A Tournament

Upon review of St. Mary's 2016-2017 wrestling schedule, I came across the "WV Single A Tournament" being held at Ritchie County on February 10th and 11th.

Is this an ongoing tournament with a new name? I do not recall seeing this in years past in the scores/results section.

Or is this a new creation to get all WV single A teams together for a competition?

All WV 'A' teams have agreed to meet at Ritchie County the week before Regionals to have an unofficial 'A' tournament. Yes, it is the first year for having it.

I'm not sure what it is even being called; so the name might be wrong on some of our schedules. As a coach who is trying to build a program in 'A' level; it is something I believe we can point to as something to compete and win perhaps. I am excited for the competition, since many great wresters will not make it to Huntington this year with the re-alignment. However, there will also be regional champions get knocked out in the first two rounds.

Where did you see/hear this? The state tournament schedule says that the first session on Thursday February 23, 2017 will be the AA/A and AAA First Round. http://www.wvmat.com/statetou/00tourn.htm

The AA/A individual wrestlers will wrestle against each other, but they are going to award team champions for AAA, AA and A this season.

Actually, I email back and forth with many people about wrestling. There are countless "TrueSouthFans" out there. There might be one in every town for all we know.
