South vs Independence Predictions
WV Duals pool makers got it right and placed South and Independence in the same pool to guarantee the matchup we all want to see. Since this is going to happen lets throw out some predictions. Here is the breakdown of how I see it playing out.
106 Lusher dominates Windland from the first whistle, but just cannot seem to secure the pin. With time running out in the 3rd period Lusher hits a tilt and secures the Tech Fall. Indy 5-0
113 Martin comes out fast against Clifton and after 45 seconds of takedown and let up Martin hits a cradle and secure the pin. South 6-5
120 Harris and Shamblin come out and have one of the better matches of the day. Harris pulls away in the 3rd as the experience over the Freshman starts to show. Indy 8-6
126 Roberts comes out strong against Harvey and gets the opening takedown. Rest of the match is pretty equal, but the opening takedown was enough to clinch the victory. South 9-8
132 Hart gets Independence fans riled up as he comes out and pins Huffman in the first period. Indy 14-9
138 Gibson and Flinn engage in an unexpected amazing match. The score goes back and forth with Gibson ending the third period in the lead. Indy 17-9
145 Cox is a machine and faces a very tough and experienced wrestler in Taylor. Cox controls the whole match but you can see the frustration when he cannot pull away. Cox takes it by decision. Indy 20-9
152 Hinzmann comes out and gets the South crowd back on there feet with a second period pin over Wood. Indy 20-15
160 Dunbar rides the momentum of the South crowd and wins a very close decision over Daniels. Indy 20-18
170 Hart and Lambiotte square off in what most people will consider the pre-lim before the 195 main event. Lambiotte gets in on the leg multiple times in the first period but cannot seem to finish the takedown. After 1 the score is 0-0. Hart starts down in the second period and although he gets held down for a minute and 30 seconds and almost gives up back points many times he leads 1-0 after the 2nd period. Lambiotte starts down in the 3rd and spends all two minutes trying to get out. The last ten seconds are spent in a frantic scramble with Hart maintaining position and winning 1-0. Indy 23-18
182 DeLong comes out and makes quick work of Lawson with a first period pin. South 24-23
195 The crowd is going crazy as all eyes are on Allman and Adams. The first period has a lot of back and forth action with neither wrestling getting the upper hand. The second period starts with Allman down and he escapes in 30 seconds. With 15 seconds left in the 2nd Adams gets in deep on a single leg and finishes the takedown as time expires. Adams starts the 3rd down and Allman lets him up going down 3-1. Allman spends the rest of the period shooting aggressively but just cannot seem to get the takedown. The Fieldhouse gives both kids a standing ovation. Indy 26-24
220 Daniels and Wolfe is a great match, but Daniels shows is experience in the end with a 4 point victory. Indy 29-24
285 South's Freshman Louden Haga comes through again as he pins Heath in the second period of a close match. South fans explode with Indy fans also standing and clapping for there team. South wins an epic battle 30-29
Many of the matches above could go either way and this was just for fun. However if the above happens the fans will be the real winners in this dual meet.
Good luck to both teams this weekend.

Re: South vs Independence Predictions
This is all very, very possible down to every detail except for 182. Lawson lost last night by 1 point to a wrestler on a very, very tough Cave Spring Team.
Lawson was denied of at least two takedowns when the action went out of bounds. He almost secured a cradle in regulation.
The two went through three rounds of overtime and still were tied. Lawson's opponent had the down position in the final period and escaped.

Don't sleep on Heath at heavyweight. The kid keeps getting better. Can wait to see the regionals with him Cales and Thornton from Nicholas. All three may wind up on the podium this year!

I have not seen South yet this season. However, there are two scenarios that have caught my eye. 1. 120lbs. Harris is looking like a bad, bad dude this season. He looks badder than wrestling to a decision win. 2. 145lbs. Will Cox just winning by decision?
Both of these gentlemen wrestled some very game Riverside kids at the Coal City Collision last night. Harris had Slack. Cox had Green.
Holy smokes. Braxton Amos works out with a landmine now!!!!!!

Re: South vs Independence Predictions
I predict the outcome to be 35-27 Indy over South.
Either way it should be a great dual and everyone in the crowd will be on the edge of their seat.

Re: South vs Independence Predictions
The big question is : will there be any " Scheny type " jostling of the lineup in order to gain points?
Re: South vs Independence Predictions
I'm feeling an Independence win, 37-29.
But all it takes is South pinning one Independence wrestler who I am predicting to win by decision...and South wins...should be good.

southfaninhunt, you over thought looking for points that just are not there. If they wrestle straight lineups: 35 to 27 Indy.

Re: South vs Independence Predictions
In today's head to head dual...............it is a hard one to call.
However, in a big tournament like the WSAZ, with many good wrestlers from other teams, I liked Indy in a big way.

Re: South vs Independence Predictions
A comparison of yesterdays scores also indicates a very close score in this dual match. My gut tells me though that this one won't be quite as close as everyone is predicting. The comparison I base this on is the dual PHS wrestled against both of these teams and yes I do reallize it all about the matchups in dual format tournaments.
