NCAA Tournament

Postby Jon Perkins » Thu Mar 16, 2023 11:33 pm

Killian is looking good, I think he has it in him to beat Ramos to make semifinals. If not his round of 12 match looks manageable to make the podium.

Jordan Titus wrestled a great match this evening beating a Top 10 guy that has beaten him earlier in the year. His next two matches will be against guys that have beaten him this year as well. Let’s see if he can avenge two more losses, his path to the podium looks rather bleak.

After losing his first match, Peyton Hall’s path to All American status will be tough but looks manageable. He should make the round of 12 where he should have Carson Kharchla who beat him last year but has been banged up all year.

Wolfgram showed up this evening and had a pretty impressive win. If he can get by next opponent a round of 12 finish is very possible.

Josh Humphries is in the quarters and will wrestle Jared Franek from NDST. To me, Josh looks like he will have no problem making the podium this year and could just as easy make the finals.

Sad to see Braxton Amos get injured in his first match. Not exactly sure what happened but it looked like a bad shoulder injury. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery.

Things are heating up and starting to come down to the nitty gritty, good luck to everyone.

Have all of our WVU qualifiers now been eliminated by Friday afternoon? Not even one All-American this year?

WVU still has Killian left in the tournament. He’ll face Ungar of Cornell in blood round to guarantee another All-American finish.

I see that Josh Humphreys has made it to AA status for the 2nd time. Did WVU recruit him out of high school? Did he just want to get out of state? Anyone know the story?

Spencer Lee got stuck in the semifinals by Purdue’s Ramos. Unreal.

Best of luck to Killian tomorrow. Congratulations on a fantastic career, going out as a 2 time All-American is a well deserved and hard earned honor.

Cardinale finished 8th as WVU’s only All American. Announcer said he is in WVU Medical School, which makes this all the more impressive. Congratulations.
