John Marshall Wrestling will be hosting a "March Mattness" bracket competition again this season as a fundraiser! Last year, 19 entries were made into the competition, and we are hoping to see even more this season!
This competition will be based on the D1 NCAA Wrestling Championships on March 21-23, 2025.
To participate, you will select a team of 13 wrestlers.
- 1 of each seed #1-10. For seeds 1-10, you can only choose 1 wrestler per weight class, so if you choose the #1 at 197, your 2-10 seed cannot also be in the 197 weight class. Please write these out before filling out the entry form to ensure you do not accidentally pick 2 individuals at the same weight.
- An 11 and 12 seed. Your 11&12 seeds can be from any weight.
- 1 "Wild Card" choice of a 13-33 seed from any weight class, giving you a total of 13 athletes on your 'team'.
Team score will decide the winner, based on normal tournament scoring. If there is a tie, tiebreaking criteria will be:
1. Most NCAA Champions
2. Most NCAA Finalists
3. Most top 4 Placewinners
4. Most AA's
5. Most Athletes in blood round
Brackets are available here:https://www.ncaa.com/_flysystem/public-s3/files/2025%20D1%20Wrestling%20brackets.pdf
The form to enter can be found here: https://forms.gle/wyvnxkyix4KvL8sY9
Entry will be $20 per team entered. You may enter a second team if you wish, for an additional $20. Cash/Check Payments can be sent to Coach Asbury at John Marshall or sent via Venmo or paypal.
Venmo: @asbury09
Paypal: paypal.me/coachasbury
No entries will be accepted after 10:00 am on Thursday, March 21.
Prizes:
1st Place - 30% of Prize Pool
2nd Place - 20% of Prize Pool
Team scores will be updated on this event page at the end of each day: https://www.facebook.com/events/4108524942758691

Re: March 'Matness' Bracket Competition
Thank you Coach Asbury for putting this together, it has truly added even more fun (and heartbreak) to me and my wife's time in watching the tournament this year. Everyone should sign up for this next year, it is easy to do and it really is a lot of fun.
I was wondering if it is too late to change my team name to "Totally Decimated"...when you think you have a few things figured out with NCAA wrestling you quickly realize that you do not.

I'm glad you enjoyed the competition! Thank you for giving it a shot and joining the little fundraiser! It definitely makes watching more fun when you have an extra person at each weight to follow.
WV mat was giving me errors when trying to load all weekend, so I didn't get to continually update the scores here. Hopefully you were able to follow along on the Facebook page.
Full team rosters and more detailed results are also available here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1IrvFLd7-cnWOtPVjxgbquUaOd99XtQysquzZMTcJBZ0/edit?usp=sharing
