We seem to be getting blasted with all kinds of foreign posters, anything to selling products to promoting porn sites.

I have been deleting as many as possible, but also need help from ALL the moderators on this site to keep watch.

Thank you Panther Coach for helping while I was on the road the other day. If anyone else sees these, please report them to Doc or a moderator. If you are opening any of them, you are risking harm to your computers.

Just removed another 15-20 and banned the username. If they come back we'll try banning the IP address.

Removed several more this morning. I think Doc or one of his sons needs to look at their firewall and security for the site. Could be time to set up a check system for new users. I'm not techie enough to even begin to know how to do that, but I'm sure others can help.

A few years ago I was a mod for a forum with 40k users and we had a non-stop issue with these types of accounts until we set up a human verification. Email verification can easily be programmed into a bot. When you require entry of a unique code or a CAPTCHA verification you virtually eliminate non-human registrations. There is no way to eliminate human spammers unless you start manually watching for IP address patterns.

Doc and I had talked about a verification system at one time. Doc wanted to make WV Mat easy to access for everyone. I emailed Doc and suggested it was time for a change in the security of the site. I think he or one of his sons are looking at ways to make it more secure.

Here is a good selling point to convince him to add some anti-spam security measures. We had some porn spammers come thru our site and post a bunch of links to some really weird porn sites. Before we could get them all deleted the Google crawler passed thru and identified all of those porn links on our site and automatically re-categorized us in Google search results as a porn site. It took about a week of haggling with Google to get them to take us off of the porn list.

Removed about a dozen this morning and banned three IP's. Damage control.
