I heard shallow. Could still be some good matchups though.

Last season, the WV Duals benefited because of some last minute teams entering due to the the WSAZ getting snowed out.

I saw a list of the teams a month ago. I agree, there should be a few good match ups possibly if the given teams actually wrestle each other.

Unfortunately, I figure it will be 21% or greater forfeit collecting instead of wrestling.

It should provide a good opportunity for the JV wrestlers though.

POOL A
Parkersburg
Herbert Hoover
Ritchie Co.
Mountainview VA
South Blue

POOL B
Parkersburg South
Hurricane
Wirt Co
Lewis Co
Riverside

Due to a low number of entries, we have decided to go to a one day tournament, 2 pools of five teams, with pool placements matching up for their fifth match.
Saturday January 7th at Parkersburg HS. Weigh-ins will begin at 8:00 am and wrestling will start at 10:00 am.
Thanks for the teams attending. You guys are a class act. (I miss Ernie Sparks enthusiasm on coming to Parkersburg, I wish more coaches had it.)

Thanks - Brent

I agree,
My sons team went there last year, it was alright. It would have been better if it was in Huntington or Beckley.

Parkersburg High School is a good place for wrestling matches. Parking is good. Seating is good. You get to see the school's history and respect given to their athletes by way of the pictures in the hallways.

Also, it is in Gator's hood. He is buying lunch.

I don t know about your first couple of reasons, but your last two are solid points especially the point where Gator is buying

The WSAZ occurred 3 weeks after the WV Duals. The snow out had not bearing (no pun intended. grin) on the Duals High School Division (maybe the Middle School Division which occurs 1 week after the WSAZ).

Thanks - Brent

I just looked at last years results to verify but last year the duels were the last week of January. Normally Indy would be at the Bob Zyde in Williamstown but they were at the duels instead. I remember because its hard to forget if Indy is at a tournament our team attends.

The snowed out WSAZ opened up some weigh ins for some teams. I recall a lot of chatter on here about getting teams on board. I know Ripley was in the snowed out WSAZ. They were not originally scheduled for the WV Duals. They got in at the last minute. I think something similar happened with another team.

I thought Wirt was going to be at Pat Vance. There wrestlers are listed in the seeds. How are they also on the pool list at the duels?

Well kanawha is closed and got dismissed early today so that means no practice for Riverside or Hoover. So base +4?

What's happened with WV duals? This used to be a two day tourney? As rich as Parkersburg area is with wrestling talent I would think a lot more schools would want to compete during these duals.
