152!!!

Wil Cox Indy- State Champ 2015
Dalton Michael EF - State Champ 2014
Alex Shuman OG - Runner Up 2015
Casey Ritchie Cal - Runner Up 2013
Kyle Elliot NM - 3rd Place 2015

Who wants it more, 4 seniors.
The pairings gave michael a fair hand, but for Shuman, Cox, Ritchie, and Elliot all in the same bracket is gonna make for some tough matches all the way through. Winner of this weight has to get MOW right?

WashedUp, you beat me to the post. This weight class is death row. This has got to be the toughest weight class in the entire state tournament, both AAA and AA/A.

The man who beats all the men, will be the man.................................and should be the unanimous MOST OUTSTANDING WRESTLER.

For Cox to move up into this weight class for the challenge, my money is on him.

I'm not sure being in the most competitive weight class should necessarily mean someone is the MOW in the tournament. Id rather wait until all the matches are wrestled and see where it all stands.

That is cool. It is going to take something incredible for me to cast my vote somewhere else. WV has too many weight classes where one kid goes through his competition like a hot nail through butter.

But when you have numerous accomplished wrestlers in one weight class (a rarity these days), one must take notice.

Enjoy next weekend.

This is a tough weight class to call. My money is on Michaels from East. He turned it up a notch at Regionals, there was no doubt from his first match all the way through he was there to win and prove a point. I seen Cox wrestle Elliot at North Marion a couple weeks ago and I think he is a good wrestler but I do not think he beats Michaels. My predictions for 152,
Michaels,
Cox,
Elliot,
Shuman,
Ritchie,
6th place is open.

I think the MOW will come out of this weight class.

guard0544.......I don't think that anyone is picking the MOW at this point. But, If you can identify another weight class that is a meat grinder such as this one, I will shake your hand and apologize to you.

The winner of this weight class will be the MOW of the state tournament !!

I think this weight class will come down to who wants it more, you gotta think Cox, senior. Michaels, senior. Ritchie, senior. And Shuman, senior. It's do or don't this year 3 of these guys. Not saying michaels and cox aren't determined by no means, but Shuman and Ritchie both making finals but never winning on the big stage, this being their last chance I don't see either of these two going down easy. And with possible setup for two big quarterfinal match ups in Cox v Shuman and Ritchie v Elliot then those two winners meet in the semis...tough tough tough. Friday is going to be an exciting day.

I've seen all the boys wrestle. All very good. Depends on which gets the early lead. And Cox seems to dominate early. All the matches should be close.

I seen both of Shuman's and Michael's matches, and if they had a good ref Shuman won both, my money's on him, kid has a lot of heart and determination, he just has to get past Cox, and Elliot/Ritchie first

I saw the last one. Tough kid , but the referee did not put him on his back for the 3 nearfall. You can't blame an official if you take it out of his hands. Blaming the official twice sounds like excuses.

Wrestlingmaster.........I saw both matches as well between Shuman and Michael. Both tough as nails, wrestle with pride and very determined !! But, I have to agree with RU4R.......
152 lb wt class will be worth the price of admission. Just my opinion ;)

Looks like the the losers or Cox/Shuman an Ritchie/Elliot eill more than likely see each other in 3rd round consultations. Meaning one will not place this year.

If that happens, that will be a tough "pill" to swallow.

In my opinion.....This was one the most highly anticipated match ups in the entire tournament.

Cox got the early lead. But, Michael was able to impose his will and stop the offense that Cox always brings and mastermind two take downs of his own to win his second state title.

Outstanding finals match between two fine young men !! It was worth the price of admission to see this match up alone.

Michaels wrestled one heck of a match. Matter of fact, he wrestled the perfect match to beat a wrestler like Cox.

However, I have never heard of a wrestler moving up in weight at the end of the season TO WALK INTO THE TOUGHEST WEIGHT CLASS.

Rumor has it that he did it for his team. If that is fact, I give Wil a medal of honor as a team mate for stepping into a meat grinder like that one to help his team. With all do respect to ALL wrestlers, I think 145 would have been a much easier path to a state title than 152.

I for one truly thought that the MOW would have came out of this weight class without any doubt. But, the choice to split it with Moore and Robertson was okay too I suppose. After all, it was voted on by the coaches that watched the entire tournament. Lots of great wrestlers to consider.... :)
