Teams needed Maryland Tournament

Postby bnalley » Thu Apr 04, 2019 10:17 am

Boonsboro High School, in Maryland, located 15 minutes from Shepherd University is hosting a tournament December 13th/14th 2019. Day 1 of the tournament is a pool style round robin. Day 2 is a seeded 16 man bracket based off pool results. Wrestlers get 7-8 matches over the 2 day tournament. We give awards for top 4 teams, top 4 individuals, quickest pin and OW. If you are interested of have any other questions feel free to email me a bnalley11@gmail.com

Thanks,
Bret

Hello Bret!!

How many teams do you typically invite/strive for put your event together? Do you go over 16 teams?

Whereas the event hybrids into a bracketed tournament on day 2, you are achieving getting the best wrestlers to face each other.

It is great that you recognize an OW and the quickest pin.

Thank you in advance for your reply.

We typically try to invite 15-16 teams. On Day 1 we have 3 pools of 5 wrestlers and the top 6 are seeded. Then the rest is random draw to fill the pools. Pool A will have the highest seeded wrestler (example below). Since we seed the pools and then seed the 16 man bracket off of the pool results you typically see the better wrestlers advance.

Pool A
1 and 6

Pool B
2 and 5

Pool C
3 and 4
