Bear Tracks - Fastest Pins

Bear Tracks is always evolving, always expanding, always trying different things each week leading up to the state tournament.

We are going to track the fastest pins throughout the season by division.

AAA
1. Haga, Parkersburg South :10 12/1/2018
2.
3.

AA
1. Nazelrodt, Petersburg :16 12/1/2018
2.
3.

A
1. Poole, Wirt County :11 12/1/2018
2.
3.

Girls' Division
1. Miller, Parkersburg South :51
2.
3.

PLEASE TURN IN YOUR SCORES SO YOUR WRESTLERS CAN BE RECOGNIZED. When wrestlers do not feel recognized, SOME will quit. When they quit, your numbers drop. When your numbers drop, the ADs and the BOE have votes to set unrealistic roster requirements. When they set unrealistic roster requirements, they will zap wrestling from your school.

How can you jump start a team the following season when the previous season was wiped out????

Bearhugger,
Just helping you keep things updated: Braxton Amos - 5 second pin

Braxton Amos had a :05 second pin which would of been a :03 or :04 second pin had in not been for the slow motion call that the ref continues to use. After he sees the pin , he slowly turns his head away and then genly taps the mat. This caused Braxton the all time record for the fastest pin in Parkersburg South history. That match was against George Washington on January 4th.

That one was put on the report the same night it happened. He also got a 9 second pin at Ironman. Haga grabbed a 7 second pin at Ironman too. The Fastest Pin updated report will be out soon. Working on rankings.

Not sure if it still stands but the fastest pin recorded in West Virginia was by Brendan Langsdorf Of Winfield it was 3 seconds
it would have been somewhere between 2002 - 2006 I was told this was a state record

Those are insanely fast! I understand the frustrations of officials/mat workers when it comes to speedy pins. It may help to speak to the official right before a match where he's trying to get the record and let them know that's what you're doing. I'm sure any ref would understand.

Not taking anything away from this wrestler, but with a pin requiring 2 seconds, we all know that this is actually impossible. The clock-keeper was at least a second slow in starting the clock. If one tried to drop to their back and be flat and motionless all by themselves they could not accomplish this feat in 1 second. Still, 4 seconds is impressive and the wrestler who accomplished the 3 second pin was not at fault in anyway, so congratulations.

Which state runner up? Stanley, Haynes, or Haga?

You're right. I was remembering the OVAC finals (as I was simultaneously looking on the OVAeC site) with Dylan Wood.

Not trying to be negative, I SWEAR... But, what the value of listing fastest pin.? Doesn’t prove a person is a good wrestler. Any experienced wrestler could throw a first time, new, or inexperienced kid and stick them. I’m just asking what the value of this discussion is. I think takedowns, majors, or techs, would be way more impressive than fastest pin. I know a super hyped kid from a few years ago that was praised for all of his quick pins against inferior opponents. When it came to WSAz’s or States, he wasn’t on the podium anywhere... Those fast pins didn’t happen against good wrestlers.

I was kinda thinking the same thing, just didn't want to be the first to say it.
