AA/A 132lbs - The Gathering

Postby Bearhugger » Tue Dec 19, 2017 1:49 pm

The season is still young and weight needs to be cut and better yet, maintained.

With that being said, we have a situation brewing in AA/A at 132lbs. Here is the straight talk in order of 2017's state tournament results in declining weight class order.

1. Hunter Taylor, 2017 132lb state champion is planning a return to the 132lb weight class for AA Juggernaut Independence High School who is going for their fifth straight team title.

2. Also at 132lbs is the 2017 126lbs state champion Caleb Rea of Weir. Rea recently did battle at the Walsh Ironman tournament, he was Weir's lone state tournament qualifier last season and he has been doing time between 132 and 138 this season. If you recall a few of Rea's big wins last season (Luke Martin/South & Brock Whorton/East Fairment twice), he is probably the most dangerous WV wrestler in the final 15-20 seconds of the match.

3. Peyton Hall of Oak Glen has recently moved to 132lbs after a 7th place finish at 126lbs at the Walsh Ironman. The word in the hospitality room is that PH is staying at 132lbs.

4. Lane Flint (One fifth of the recently expanded East Fairmont's Murderer's Row) has grown from his 2017 third place finish at 113lbs and is now campaigning at 132lbs. East Fairmont has rallied their troops from 106 to 285 and plans to make a solid run at Independence in 2018.

If all of these grapplers maintain their weight and we see 132lbs as stated above, it will clearly be the star attraction of the 2018 West Virginia State Tournament.

THERE CAN ONLY BE ONE!

What makes you think Indys Lusher will be willing to give up his zebra cakes?

1. Discipline
2. Dedication
3. Helping the Indy team

I predict Lusher will be a focal point in 2019 when we discuss the 220 or 285 pound weight classes.

Flint defeated Taylor 8-6 on December 21st. It was Taylor's first match of the season.

Rea vs Hall could very well happen at 9am Thursday at the Wheeling Duals.
