Re: Rules and situations
Aacoach126, not sure what your point is. I know the rule book quite well especially after 50 years of officiating. The point is who and how do you determine whether it’s flagrant. The rule is vague and why wait to the state finals to inconsistently determine its flagrant. I know that under the same...

Re: Rules and situations
Thanks for pointing that out. The rule says continuing acts. Am I missing something here. You agree that he should be punished for something another teammate did? I don’t know who you surveyed and don’t care but the ones that agreed with the call doesn’t surprise me. Probably the same ones that tol...

Re: Rules and situations
As someone who was an official and is now a coach, I've known for a long time that cursing on the mat for any reason is ejection-worthy. This was the case when I wrestled, the idea was reinforced when I did my training as an official, and coaches are informed of this as well. This is not a new idea....

Re: 2023 Returning AA Placewinners by Region
I'm not taking anything away from the state champions, in which yes Region 4 had the most. However as a whole, it is much easier to send a full team of wrestlers to states in regions: 2-4 compared to region 1. Region 4 only has eight returning underclassmen, that's less than double of Reigon1, so o...

Example #256255 that Region 1 is by far the best region in AA and the most competitive. 106 Dillon Perdue, Independence 113 Nathan Wood, Point Pleasant 120 Conner Blessing, Point Pleasant 126 Gunner Andrick, Point Pleasant 132 Braxton Smith, Nitro 138 Kolbie Hamilton, Fairmont Senior 145 Justin Bar...

Re: Pill 2 - A Semifinal Extravaganza
Agree with everything you said. 2 questions I have… 1. is #1 and #2 seeds? ranked? which poll(s)? Other criteria? 2. Is this determination of who is #1 and #2, through whichever method or process, before or after Regionals? I don’t think it is always clear who they would be, regardless. Especially ...

Re: Pill 2 - A Semifinal Extravaganza
The solution you speak of has been mentioned and discussed on this forum at least two seasons ago. I am sure somebody can dig up the origin post. It doesn't take 2, 3 or 4 years to approve a second pill draw for one weight class. This could be discussed and approved in 30 minutes. The people involv...

Re: Pill 2 - A Semifinal Extravaganza
--What would be the proposed seeding criteria for the state tournament? --If that criteria is the same as the one used for regionals, I can think of more than a few ways where regional results would be negated through this method. The regional tournament is an extension of the state tournament. If r...

There's no D. Ours in either bracket. Not Winners Choice or WSAZs. I think the streets are fibbing to us.

Re: A/AA Realignment 2020 - 2024 Proposal
Yep, It was in my school mail this morning. My understanding it's the final draft. Region 3 only has 10 wrestling teams in it (Assuming Hoover moves to Region 4, as they are shown in both Region 3 and 4). Surely they'd at least give some effort to making the regional alignment relatively even (numb...

Re: State Duals
This is great but I see a issue with using the regionals as a basis. A bracket tournament team winner result is different from dual meet winner result. Is most case maybe the outcome is mostly the same but region 4 A/AA runner up was 8 spots behind the third place finisher.so the question is then d...

Re: State Duals
Not 100% on any of this, but based off the teams that have it on there schedule it looks like last years Regional Champ and Runner-up will have a dual. the winner of each regional dual will go to The Greenbrier for a State Dual quad. Seems like a really cool idea. I hope it works out and sticks arou...

Where would you recommend, malematmaid, that I go. I coach RCB, by the way. I have three maybe four kids right now that can physically finish the season and I don't want to drive to Petersburg, although I have in the past, it is a great tournament. I am also a double A school and can not compete at...

Why taunt people? Whats wrong with running an 8-man bracket on a Saturday and being done with it?

AA/A 120 is shaping up to be a good weight class. I do expect one hammer to drop from 126. Also, there are a few t...
