Re: Super 32 Early Entries

The Super 32 Tournament is hands down the best high school folkstyle wrestling tournament in the country and is only 3 weeks away. If you enjoy NCAA wrestling and the recruiting process, this tournament is a can’t miss. If you are going to watch the tournament on Flo, I have compiled a list of at le...

Re: WVU 2023-34 Schedule

Now that the schedule has been out for a few days, what are the thoughts on it? I like the schedule and the way it is set up, for the most part. I would like to see them going to another tournament other than the Shorty Hitchcock Open on Nov. 18th. The Navy Classic or the Keystone Classic would be m...

Re: Joseph and Anthony Clem

We will have an opportunity to get a good look at them here in a few weeks at the Super 32 tournament. WVU seems to be recruiting the 125 and 133 pound weight classes pretty hard.

Re: WVU 2023-34 Schedule

Northern Colorado in Greely, CO on December 10th at 4 p.m. (I assume that is Mountain Time and not Eastern Time) Kent State has two teams scheduled in Morgantown, WV on November 12th at 1 p.m. It looks like a Tri match between WVU, Kent State, and Duke. Slowly but surely the schedule is coming toget...

Re: WVU 2023-34 Schedule

Posting the schedule for 2023 through 2034 would be very impressive. I'm on a mission to comb the 8&under youth results so I can let everyone know which incoming freshmen to watch for in that 2034 season. In the words of John Perkins I predict the 2034 squad will be the best WVU team in a long ...

Re: WVU Early Lineup

I think they will be a good dual team. Overall, i think the upper weights (165-hwt) will carry more of the team. Not sold on Tyson at 141 because he looks small compared to his competition, but must not be able to make 133 anymore. Concerned that many of the duals will started off with 2-3 losses. ...

Acceptable Results

Now let’s talk about acceptable results. Is being 12th out of 13 in the Big 12 tournament an acceptable result? No of course not but that is a small piece of the whole picture. The team was without their best wrestler and the next best wrestler was unable to compete the second day due to a very seri...

Not that some of this isn’t interesting but what does Josh Humphreys and Killian Cardinale have to do with WVU’s current roster? The original thought of this thread was what do people think of the current roster and incoming freshmen.

I’m excited about Conley at 174 and Wolfgram at 285 in a year where some of the powerhouses may have wrestlers taking an Olympic red...

WVU Early Lineup

Let's take a look at WVU's predicted lineup and discuss the positives and negatives. 125: Jett Strickenberger - Cardinale left some big shoes to fill. This kid might be a step behind Killian, but look for him to make an instant impact and will be very competitive. I predict that he will be a top 12 ...

Re: WVU's Current State of Affairs

I don't think it has hurt the recruiting for the wrestling team. The class of 2023 they brought in Ty Watters, ranked 6th in the nation, and Jett Strickenberger, a Jr. College national champion. The class of 2024 they have commitments from Shawn Taylor, ranked 11th in the nation, Hoke Poe-Hogan, ran...

Re: Hoke Poe

I agree with Poe. He’ll be a big 184. Some sites have him as a 197lber. You think Lawrence can make 197? He wrestled 220 last year. I assumed he was going to be a HW. If he could go 197 then I’d like to see wvu go after Kehler. Hoke Poe will be 184 and Rune will be 197. Both are big guys, but they ...

Re: WVU lands top PA recruit

Future heavyweight. Big get. I’m assuming this means Kehler is not bound to be a Mountaineer. Would have been nice. I don’t think Rune will grow into a HWT. He is a big kid but not that big. I think Brock Kehler is definitely on the radar and would be much needed and welcomed. Brock did wrestle on ...

After watching this kid wrestle at Fargo, he is going to be a full sized 184. Having Brody Conley at 174 and Rune Lawrence at 197 as practice partners he definitely has the ability and potential to be a solid recruit.

WVU is not able to attract enough of the really, really good in-state wrestlers. ( Humphreys, Amos, Raike , Wright for example). Maybe Coach Flynn should start allowing the team to hang out with Bob Huggins a little more often, he seems to know how to have a good time. I'm guessing you didn't mean ...

Re: Four Mountaineers To Compete At U23 World Team Trials

I dunno.. none of this makes me all a-tingle for the upcoming season. The lineup is going to look very similar to last year. They will have someone new at 125, it will be interesting to see if the JUCO national champion can step up and fill the shoes of an All American, and Brodey Conley will be an...

Re: NJCAA Champ Commits To WVU

I read the article that WVU wrestling has posted about Jett and it said he has 2 years of eligibility left. So apparently when you go to Jr. College it counts the same as NCAA eligibility, I never knew that.

Sounds like he should be a very solid spot in the lineup for the next 2 years.

Piece by piece the lineup is coming together. Each year they keep adding more depth up and down the lineup.

Does anyone have any insight on how two years at a Jr. College affects his NCAA eligibility?

Gage must want to win. This post is so disingenuous. This thread is about Gage getting recruited to one of the best wrestling teams in the country and this is what you have to say. This is a good fit for Gage and a major accomplishment, why can't you see that and just say something to the effect of...
